The Picollo Equestrian Program, this year, has received supplemental funding through donations from the Washoe County Star Grange Society, the Weigand foundation and through the support of community and student volunteers. Monetary donations have provided the program vital subsidy of the feed expenses while also allowing for the purchase and installation of a new student lift system. Funds raised from the school’s annual Spaghetti Dinner Fundraiser were made possible as a result of the contribution of all labor and purchased food costs associated with the food served at the fundraiser. Additionally, over thirty local businesses donated items for auction or to be served to attendees. Proceeds from the Spaghetti Dinner were directed, this year, to purchase P.E. equipment, to support vocational programming and to subsidize the purchase of latex gloves. Two parent information nights were held this year to introduce parents to the school, the staff and to familiarize parents with the curriculum that is used at the school, the methods used to instruct, manage behavior and to assess student achievement as well as to select appropriate goals and objectives. One third of parents and guardians attended each event.
