SNACS motto is "bringing the small school community back to the neighborhood". We expect our families to volunteer a minimum of 10 hours per month per family in some capacity towards the school. Our staff works with families to ensure their volunteerism is meaningful and productive to the school community. We try to offer families a place they feel they can call "home" in providing many family-based activities such as:
- Monthly thematic Living History Days such as NV Farm and Ranch Days, Children around the World Multicultural Celebration, & SNACS giving (where we bake and make items for the family homeless shelter in Reno)
- Family and Student Outdoor Labs via Campouts
- Moonlight Corn Maize competition
- Harvest festival (including our family haunted house)
- Caroling, crafts, gingerbread making, classroom quilt silent auction at our Winter Celebration
- Author's day signing (every child creates a hardback book which is officially released at Barnes and Noble where every child is an author and signs their book)
- ARTs Celebration Days
- Science & Invention Fairs and the Family Math Game Night
- Spring Fling Carnival and Student Art Auction
- Fun Run & Earth Day Recycled Art Contest
- Shoe Gardens & Murals
- Talent Show
