Communication

  • Administration holds an orientation at the start of the school year and at the beginning of every block. Attendance, credits, and behavioral expectations are explained to parents and students.
  • Plays, dance performances, and Grad Prep nights are held throughout the year. At the end of the year, graduation is attended by many parents and community members.
  • Every week, teachers contact parents by phone or mail to notify them of their student's progress.
  • Grade reports are mailed home each block. All key information is mailed home in both English and Spanish. ICDA employs two bi-lingual staff members who are available to translate for Spanish-speaking parents.
  • Through Blackboard Connect, parents are notified of school events, testing dates and times, and delayed start or snow days.
  • Several companies, corporations and individuals provide services, financial support, and professional advice to the school at no cost.
  • Parents were invited to participate in the interview committee to select and recommend a candidate for the open principal position.
  • Volunteer parents participated in multiple fund raising events such as bake sales, prom preparation, and car washes.
