Gerlach MS/HS has a small population where communication is a vital part of our community. Parents have many opportunities to volunteer and attend special programs allowing them to see their children in action. Special efforts are made to let parents know when programs are coming and often these programs do an extra presentation in the evening so that working parents may also be included. The staff held activities that encouraged socialization and professionalism. These activities included an Open house Parents' Night which provided a barbecue dinner, an awards assembly, dances and sports events. Our Open Door Policy is enhanced with services provided through the community library which is on campus along with a public notary. Special training was given for the Infinite Campus Parent Portal and there is a computer on site for parents who do not have computer access at home. Teachers are accessible 24 hours a day and parents are able to share concerns when needed. Community members visit the school to participate with their students, to have questions answered and to receive services.
