We had a busy year for family engagement at Vaughn, including the following activities:
- 6th grade orientation for students and families
- Orientation barbecue in August for new students and families
- Open house in September for families to receive school information
- SES tutoring after school for the entire year
- Math and Science nights
- Annual Title I meeting where parents were provided with information on Title I and the allocation of funds, restructuring, and opportunities for involvement
- Infinite Campus grading training sessions for parents in English/Spanish
- Monthly newsletters in English/Spanish
- Career Day to explore various careers of interest
- Connect-Ed messages in English/Spanish on a regular basis to inform families of school events
- Parent conferences and IEPs
- Strengthening Families classes
- Two awards ceremonies to honor student achievement
- Band and Strings performances several times during the year
- UNR Silver Scholars program for students and families of top performing 8th grade students
- The Kiwanis Club sponsored school uniforms for needy students
- Grand Sierra Resort sponsored food for all activities and events for the year
- Mustang Car Club sponsored holiday gifts for students
