Our school has established strong ties to our families and the community. Many of our parents volunteer to assist around the school by tutoring, assisting in the library, helping in the teacher workroom, and working directly with our academic core teams. Parents of our music students also help with transporting equipment, fundraising, and volunteering to chaperone on field trips. Swope is also partnered with the Reno-Tahoe Airport Authority and collaborates on several different events throughout the school year. The Parent Club supports teacher appreciation efforts, school wide fundraisers, and organizing and assisting with the end of the year functions. In addition the parent club provides a host of volunteer services. The Parent Advisory Council encourages informed parent discussion that leads to school level decisions; forms parent-school partnerships to respond to the needs of an increasingly diverse community; strives to increase the sense of efficacy among all parents of Swope Middle School students. Staff and parents engage in outreach activities at some feeder schools to encourage greater parent engagement from all families in the Swope community.
