Communication
Our families are active participants in the environment at Mariposa Academy. They feel welcomed, valued, and connected to each other. We continuously improve student/parent recruitment, parent/professional development, and flexible schedules to involve families in collaborative efforts to support student learning. Family learning activities like "Bring your Father" to school day, Family Math and Literacy Nights, Children Book Week, and a Multi-Cultural Fair to promote student achievement and parent/teacher collaboration. We have parent workshops and field trips emphasizing high school graduation requirements and college readiness. Our parent involvement hours exceed 20 hours per student per year. Mariposas' PTO provides students, staff, and families with opportunities to participate in community service projects like "Pennies for Patients", "Go Green" recycling, Nevada Food Bank Project, "Yo me vacuno", and Nutrition in the Garden. All of these school-wide projects serve to promote good citizenship and the importance of community involvement.
