Parent involvement has been a priority with the move into our new building. The request for involvement has evolved from past involvement, which consisted primarily of parents donating hours of service back to the school. While parents still contribute time, labor, and services to help the school's operations, parents are encouraged to be active in school beyond donation of time and labor.
Monthly family nights have been implemented as a partnership between the school and our newly re-formed PTO. An activity centered on learning and family time is held each month to encourage our families to come to school and spend time with their children and our staff, engaging in a fun activity for all, and enjoying treats provided by our families.
We hosted six weeks of classes to our Spanish-speaking parents in conjunction with the NV State Parent Involvement Resource Center and WCSD Education Alliance. These classes provided parents with information on how to access services for their families to promote academic success and family involvement.
Our Board of Directors is working towards more parent involvement at the executive level, encouraring parents to become more involved in the Board meetings and governance of the school.
