The staff at Agnes Risley Elementary School recognizes the need to continually renew and strengthen family-school-community partnerships. We recognize that a child’s education cannot be accomplished by teachers alone. On going collaboration with parents and community members is essential for helping our students at Agnes Risley. We assist families with parenting skills, understanding child development, and setting home conditions that support children as students. We communicate with families about school programs and student progress through effective school-to-home and home-to-school communications with translations provided for second language learners. We continuously work to involve families as volunteers and audiences at the school programs. We involve families with their children in learning activities at home including homework and other activities linked to content standards. We include families as participants in school decisions, governance, and advocacy through our Parent Club, school advisory council, committees, and other parent organizations.
