Sierra Vista's home visit program expanded to include parents in our visits. In December we had a 'Hug and Mug' and together with 10 staff members and 10 parents we visited over 25 homes. Through our home visit program we discovered that there was a need for GED classes on site. Therefore through a grant we are able to offer GED courses supported by on sight staff to our community. Our Tech Tuesdays continued to grow and supported more families. We collaborated with ComputerCorps of America and provided a free six week computer literacy course for 15 families who at the end of the course received a free computer. We were fortunate to be selected by the Youth Chamber of Commerce Volunteer Organization for a hygiene and food drive. They raised over $2000.00 which provided food and hygiene products for our pantry. Our food pantry is continuous and supports many families. Our newsletter is in both Spanish and English and provides information from all participants in our school. We have expanded our math and literacy nights to include science as well, thus supporting all learners and fostering excitement in education. Our Morning Mug meetings continue to grow with exciting educational and meaningful topics, such as, immigration.
