Hawthorne Elementary School has increased its regular two-way, meaningful communication with parents, family, and the community in the following ways: - Host a beginning of the year coffee social to discuss concerns and areas of improvement
- Prepare and distribute monthly newsletters including events calendar
- Host regular Learning Showcase Nights which showcase the educational activities occurring
- Hold quarterly Parent-Teacher Conferences which focus on assessment data, grades, and growth
- Host quarterly awards/recognition assemblies to celebrate student achievement, attendance, and reading efforts
- Teachers make 2-5 positive parent/family contacts per week
- Homework/communication folders go home with every student nightly with important messages
- Hold Power School training for parents multiple times per year to encourage home use of our student data system
- Implement our Rocket Pride recognition system in which positive phone calls are made to parents/guardians celebrating their child’s positive values being exhibited at school
