A parent involvement plan was developed and submitted to the school board for approval at the beginning of the school year. The principal and dean contact parents by phone regularly and have an open door policy where parents can come in to the school during school hours. 9th grade advisors communicate with parents regarding grades and any other issues of concern on an as needed basis. The attendance aide as well as the dean make efforts to contact parents as soon as is practicable to notify parents of their student’s attendance issues. Administration and staff members contact parents by phone, email and letters.Four days of parent-teacher conferences are held. Two are during the day and two are during the evening. Efforts have increased to encourage parents of low achieving students to attend these conferences. Parents are provided with passwords to access attendance, assignments and grades on the Power School program. They can also communicate with teachers via this program. The counselor meets with parents throughout the school year regarding academic progress as well as progress toward graduation.
