Communication
Desert Pines High School, along with the Clark County School District, implemented the ParentLink communication system which enables parents to access grade and attendance information from their home computers. The system also allows the school to call parents when students are absent from class. Teachers are required to update ParentLink on a weekly basis from their Easy Grade Pro grade book. Progress notices are issued at the end of the third, sixth and ninth weeks of each grading period. Every classroom has a phone with voice mail which parents can access to leave messages for teachers. Continued partnerships in the community with businesses and local apartment complexes allow the administration to have access to those areas to help reduce truancies and raise attendance rates. The administration implemented an open house week for parents to come to class with their students to increase parental involvement. The principal has established a Parental Advisory Committee which meets on a monthly basis. These meetings are advertised in the Principal's Perspective letter located on the school website. DPHS, in concert with Gear-up, has a monthly parent night which regularly features partnerships with outside agencies.
