Harney Middle School hosts an Open House night early in the school year which allows families to tour the campus and meet their child's teachers. The school maintains an Internet website and newsletters are sent home six times each year. Parent-teacher meetings can be scheduled four days each week, both before and after school, to discuss a student's academic progress. Agendas are used to improve students' organizational skills and as a communication tool between teachers and families. Grade reports are sent home at the mid-nine week interval and at the end of each quarter to apprise parents of their child's current grade in each class. Families can access grades, attendance information, and course requests for the following school year via ParentLink, a web-based service. This same system utilizes the phone system and/or e-mail to deliver absence notifications as well as important monthly messages from the school.
