Becker Middle School provided ongoing communication with parents. The Becker Middle School website, ccsd.net/schools/becker, provides activity calendars, teacher voicemail numbers, links to teacher web pages and e-mail addresses, school newsletter, and various other parent resources. The ParentLink online system allows parents to access his/her students' grades, assignments, and attendance. Themated calling system is utilized to communicate pertinent school announcements and information by phone, in addition to informing parents when his/her child is absent from school. Teachers have a my.ccsd.net webpage where announcements, assignments, and projects are posted. Parent newsletters are mailed home bi-monthly. More than 60 parent volunteers assist the school on a regular basis in the students store, classrooms, fine arts programs, library, and before- and after-school activities, such as dances and fundraisers. Trained parent volunteers tutor students using the PowerUp reading intervention program. Parent meetings are held the first Thursday of each month. Calendared events, parent collaboration/concerns, guest speakers, and school improvement strategies are shared with parents and guardians in attendance.
