Hal Smith ES provides regular, meaningful, and two-way communication with parents, families, and the community in several ways. Progress reports, sent at least bi-weekly, keep parents informed of their children's social and academic progress. ParentLink messages, sent in English and in Spanish, inform parents of upcoming school events, holidays, and other important information. Bi-monthly newsletters, written in English and in Spanish, inform the Hal Smith community of the academic and social happenings throughout the school. Parent-teacher conferences are held to discuss individual student academic and social progress, with an emphasis on sharing assessment data, students' strengths and weakness, as well as areas which need improvement. Parental involvement is promoted through Family Math, Literacy, and Technology Nights, and Family Math Days.
