Throughout the year, Gray distributed letters, flyers, surveys and ParentLink messages in both English and Spanish regarding school-wide events, school closures and CCSD announcements. Gray initiated two-way parent communication at the beginning of the school year at Open House, informing parents of school programs, student achievement data, contact information and progress reporting. Teachers were provided with Parent Contact Logs to record a minimum of 3 successful contacts per week. Teachers included academic assessment results on report cards to provide parents with specific current achievement levels for their children. Parents of students in grades 3-5 were invited to attend workshops to assist their children with test preparation strategies to increase student success on the Criterion Referenced Test. Parents of fifth grade students were invited to attend Writing Night to increase their knowledge about the writing process and obtain information regarding improving student performance on the Nevada Writing Proficiency Exam. Gray ES hosted a number of community events, including F Troop meetings and a Rapid Transit public meeting.
