At Tomiyasu, parents are encouraged to be partners in their child's education by volunteering in the classroom, monitoring their child's academic/social progress, and by participating in school-wide activities. Newsletters, flyers, the school marquee and website, and the ParentLink system provide district and school-wide information. Parent-Student-Teacher conferences are held annually to discuss student achievement and develop academic plans. Additional conferences are held as needed. Student progress is communicated through daily communicator folders, agenda books, progress reports, and trimester report cards. Parent involvement is encouraged through activities such as Trimester Awards' Assemblies, Art & Academic Night, patriotic assemblies, spelling bee, Living Museum, and Dragon Day. Parents support the PTA-sponsored events such as the bike rodeo, Fall Carnival, holiday craft fair, and the 5th grade bar-b-que.
