Communication
At Diskin, we believe that our families and relationships are very important. Communication with parents starts each morning with open classroom doors so that teachers can greet students and parents as they arrive at school and also answer questions. In addition, every two weeks, progress reports are sent home to keep parents up-dated on student performance. Teachers also upload their grades weekly to ParentLink so that parents always have access to track progress. Individual conferences are held as needed and several staff members are bi-lingual so that conferences are held in the parents' language. Student-led conferences are held each winter. Students lead the conference and discuss their progress, challenges, and goals with their families. At the end of the conference, the teacher also meets with the family to answer questions and clarify information. Monthly newsletters are sent home with information for parents and our web site is up-dated on a regular basis to ensure current information for families. Our families come first and are welcomed at Diskin and valued as important members of our school community.
