George E. Harris continuously provided meaningful two-way communication with parents, families, and community members through the use of multiple tools. The most frequently used tool was the district's ParentLink system. An average of two to three messages were sent out each month to keep parents informed of upcoming events and opportunities for their involvement in school activities. Parent/student/teacher conferences were also held to inform parents of their student's academic and behavioral progress. Several activities were held throughout the year to encourage more parent/family involvement including Math and Literacy Nights, Fall Festival, district budget meeting, and trimester awards assemblies. Bi-monthly newsletters were sent out by the Harris PTA that included information from administration and staff. A parent center was developed and utilized to provide English classes for adults and a variety of community resources for parents and families.
