The staff and parents at Gene Ward Elementary believe that two-way communication is very important to student success. The following are the ways in which we have facilitated this process. A monthly newsletter detailed important information about school events, and programs. Parent/teacher conferences were held when necessary to keep parents informed about student progress. Report cards were distributed at the end of each trimester. Bi-monthly progress reports were distributed to give information about student progress. Flyers were distributed as needed to inform parents about any events or program changes. Our school website, http://ccsd.net/schools/ward/, and ParentLink gave parents important information about staff, programs, and services available. Monthly family meetings were held to promote literacy and mathematics in the home. Community partnerships provided support for students. And lastly, the Family Leadership Institute was implemented to provide leadership skills to families.
