At Kit Carson, we are committed to building effective collaboration between school and home. Parent newsletters are distributed bi-monthly and include upcoming school events. Important messages, reminders and invitations regarding Carson events are sent via ParentLink and parent flyers. Parent-Student-Teacher-Academic Planning-Time (PSTAPT) and bi-weekly progress reports provide an opportunity for parents, students and teachers to discuss academic progress. To create a stronger community, students and parents are encouraged to participate in family academic activities and extracurricular activities such as parent meetings and workshops, parent committees, special events, Family Night, fundraisers and field trips. Parents are invited to volunteer in classrooms and at the district level, the Parent Advisory Committee. We also encourage parents to support their children at home by making their expectations about school clear and creating a positive homework environment.
