We continually promoted ongoing and interactive communication with parents regarding the instructional program through parent trainings, Family Math and Science Night, Parent Center, Sneak-a-Peek, monthly newsletters, principal advisory meetings, parent/teacher conferences, and PTSA meetings. All communication and trainings were offered in English and Spanish. Efforts were made to improve family involvement. Activities included: parent volunteer program, family cooking and nutrition classes, family exercise classes, family yoga classes, soccer intramurals, Multicultural Dance Festival, Fall Carnival, Career Week, Grandparents' Breakfast, Dads' Breakfast, Moms' Breakfast, Partnership Volunteer Appreciation Program, and PTSA movie nights. Additionally, parents and community stakeholders were encouraged to participate as members of the Learning Improvement Team, School-wide Discipline Team, and Library Media committees to discuss curriculum related issues.
