William Wright Elementary School communicates with parents in a multitude of ways. The school utilizes the ParentLink communication system to send messages to parents along with posting students' grades and attendance. An-dialer is used to apprise parents of their child's absences and a school website is maintained. Three newsletters, which are posted on the website, are developed during the year. The first newsletter is sent home with students during the first weeks of school. Home and School Connections letters highlighting specific topics such as homework, testing, and bully prevention are sent home monthly. Teachers provide academic progress reports to students/parents every 2-3 weeks and classroom newsletters are distributed on a regular basis. Parent/counselor/teacher conferences are held throughout the year and teachers regularly communicate with parents via e-mail and phone calls. A monthly open meeting is held with parents and the principal to discuss topics of interest. Special events like Open House, Fall Festival, Spaghetti Dinner Night, Multicultural Fair, Moms and Muffins, Dads and Donuts, field day, PTA meetings, and family nights promote collaboration, family involvement, and build a strong community.
