Communication
John R. Hummel Elementary School provides regular two-way, meaningful communication with parents, families, and the community in a variety of ways. The Hummel Happenings bi-weekly newsletter provides families with a variety of information such as upcoming events, assemblies, general health information, parenting tips, reminders, and a list of students receiving Student of the Week and Student of the Month recognition. A marquee in front of the school announces upcoming school events. Telephones in each classroom with voicemail provide teachers and parents another way to contact and communicate with each other. The Hummel website provides information about the school and staff with links to my.ccsd.net, as well as parent, student, and teacher resources. My.ccsd.net is used by the staff to post classroom activities, homework, spelling lists, upcoming events, and classroom activities. Teachers update classroom information on the 1st and 15th of each month. Weekly or bi-weekly progress reports are sent home to parents to keep them apprised of student academic and behavioral progress or concerns. ParentLink is used as an additional communication link between school and home.
