Communication
Garehime Elementary School provided for regular two-way meaningful communication with parents, families and the community in a variety of ways. Teachers sent home a weekly "Ask Me About" newsletter keeping parents informed of curriculum standards and instructional concepts and skills that were taught. Teachers also communicated regularly with parents through phone, e-mail and in-person conferences. The school newsletter, "The Garehime Gazette" was sent home bi-monthly with information about school news, student achievement and school events and activities. The school website also provided quick links to keep parents informed. ParentLink (a phone, text, email delivery service) was used regularly to communicate with parents about school activities and upcoming school-wide dates and events. The Garehime Heights Citizen's Club, of which every citizen was a member, held monthly meetings. Approximately 100 parents donated time on a regular basis as classroom volunteers, tutors and participants on school committees. Over 2,000 hours of volunteer time were donated by parents and community members throughout the year.
