Parents are kept informed of events, school-wide activities, and new programs at the school through a weekly newsletter. In addition, teachers send home a monthly newsletter. Parents are kept informed of their child's progress through progress reports and postings on ParentLink. Conferences are held to review interim assessment data, academic progress, and behavior. Parents can also communicate with teachers and the administration through e-mail addresses linked to the school's website. The website provides parents with information about school events, links to support academic programs, and links to family services throughout the community. Parents serve on a variety of committees including the Lamping Improvement Team, the William McCool Science Center Foundation, School Generated Funds Committee, and School Safety. Parents are very active and involved as over 200 parents a week volunteer throughout the school. The Lamping PTA is very active sponsoring activities such as Family Reading Night, Take Your Dad to Lunch Day, Watch D.O.G.S., JSPO, the Lightning Bolt Open, and Fall Festival. The Lamping PTA has received the national "School of Excellence" award for building educational ties between the school, home, and community.
