A whole school opening occurred every day with the entire community invited to participate. Monthly "Fabulous Families" events were held to celebrate home/school successes. Parents served on various school committees such as Budget, Library, Food/Nutrition and Safety. They also volunteered their time during lunch recess to assist students with a student jogging and walking fitness program. McMillan Elementary School sent home progress reports every three weeks. Newsletters were also sent home at least every three weeks, and ParentLink communications were sent home regularly. Parent/student/teacher conferences were held as needed, but at least once per year.
