Communication
Dooley Elementary provided a Student/Parent handbook to communicate educational goals and the basic operations of the school. The quarterly Dooley Newsletter, regular ParentLink phone messages, outside marquee, and school website contained information about school events. Examples of special events and activities included Kindergarten Round-Up, Meet and Greet, PTA meetings, Open House, and Fine Arts and Field Day. Teachers maintained ongoing communication with parents through ParentLink, progress reports every 3 weeks, classroom newsletters, notes home, phone calls, "Good News" postcards, and e-mail. Conferences were held with parents to provide school curriculum, classroom instruction, and student achievement information. The Parent Teacher Association (PTA) provided opportunities for student/parent/teacher interactions such as Muffins with Moms, Dessert with Dads, Harvest Festival, various fundraising nights throughout the community, and Teacher Appreciation Week activities. The PTA encourages membership, parent volunteerism, and teacher involvement in all activities.
