Communication
Ruthe Deskin Elementary School recognizes the importance of strong parent/guardian participation to offer quality educational programming for all students. To achieve this objective, Ruthe Deskin provides for regular two-way and meaningful communication with parents, families, and the community through a weekly parent newsletter entitled The Eagle Edition, ParentLink, a school website, an active parent volunteer program, and a committed Parent Advisory Council (PAC) that meets monthly. Parents are involved in all aspects of school life. They assist in classrooms and participate in student recognition programs, fundraising activities, and special annual events that include: Literacy Night, Science Fair Night, school book fairs, Field Day, Picture Day, Science Day, and Ruthe Deskin Day. Parents have also taken an active role in Fall Festival, DARE graduation, and the fifth grade culmination celebration. In addition, parents regularly support extracurricular activities that include musical performances, GATE activities, assemblies, and field trips. Ruthe Deskin Elementary School is very grateful for the many generous parent/community contributions that so richly enhance the quality of our school.
