Communication is extremely important between the parents and the staff at Smalley ES. Information pertaining to events at school or topics of interest is provided through a variety of means, such as monthly newsletters, school website, and ParentLink. Teachers communicate with the parents on a continuous basis through progress reports, notes home, e-mail, conferences, and phone calls. The active PTA offers monthly meetings and community events throughout the year. Community events include the Harvest Festival, movie nights, Spring Fling, and Volunteer Appreciation Breakfast. Parent workshops are made available to the parents to communicate strategies that assist student learning; for example, writing traits, Love & Logic, higher level thinking, and Homework Without Tears.
