Douglas County School District considers parent communication essential to student achievement. Recognizing the importance of maintaining open two-way communication with our parents and community at large we have the following in place: - On-line access to student information for parents, student progress reports, district and site family involvement teams
- Individual career/academic counseling for all middle and high school students
- Flexible evening conferences, school and class newsletters, district and site Web pages
- 6th grade student-led conferences at all elementary schools
- Family involvement nights which target math, science, reading, language arts, and ELL families
- Parent/community volunteer training
- Community and parent tutors
- Back to School Nights
- Personal Education Plans (PEPs) which involve student, parent, and teachers for remediation and acceleration
- Parent resource guides and education nights throughout the school year
- Parent accords
- Community partnerships
- Annual parent surveys
- Translation services available
- Parent representation on Strategic Plan, School Improvement Plans (SIPs), and District Improvement Plan (DIP) teams
