Communication
Parents and community members were encouraged to be active participants in the educational process.  The District promoted frequent two-way communication with parents, family, and the community through a variety of meetings, forums, publications and media.
      
•      Superintendents and District staff attended community meetings and appeared on radio and television shows, encouraging feedback
       and fostering positive working relationships.
•      The Board of School Trustees conducted monthly Parent Advisory Committee (PAC) meetings at various locations in the regions they served.
•      The Board of School Trustees held Community Linkage meetings to gather community input.
•      The District hosted a variety of forums on specific topics at various locations throughout the school year. 
•      Surveys were distributed to approximately 196,000 households requesting feedback from parents regarding all aspects of their child’s schooling.
•      The CCSD website contained timely parent information and links parents to individual school web sites within the District.  The online “Straight 
       Talk” feature enabled the community to send comments, suggestions, and concerns directly to the Board of School Trustees
       and Superintendents.
•      KLVX, Channel 10 presented Inside Education, a weekly 30-minute news program, highlighting activities in the District.
•      The District published and mailed to parents of all students the Nevada Family Magazine, a quarterly publication that highlighted individuals,
       programs, and issues affecting the education of CCSD students.  
•      The IDMS parent portal allowed parents to quickly and securely track their student’s academic progress.  In addition, approximately 25 schools
       used Edline and approximately 70 schools used Intouch to enhance two-way communication with families and to inform parents of student
       progress.
•      Parents and community members regularly participated and provided input to critical committees, such as:
       o      Career and Joint Technical Skills Committee
       o      Attendance Zone Advisory Commission (AZAC)
       o      CCSD Textbook Commission
       o      Sex Education Advisory Council
       o      Autism Partnership
       o      Nevada Partnership for Inclusive Education
       o      Region Child Development Centers
•      District publications provided important information and a means to communicate with District personnel.
•      A parent liaison position is in place and is actively involved with numerous parent organizations to increase parent involvement and 
       communication.  The following initiatives were coordinated through the Parent Services office.
       o      Parent Involvement Summit- October 2006.
       o      Parent Engagement Network- district wide November 2006.
       o      Wendell Williams ES AYP celebration.
       o      Latin Chamber Career Day.
       o      National PTA presentations at three Title 1 Parent Centers.
       o      Community Outreach for parent involvement - established relationships with Clark County Government, City of Las Vegas, Henderson
               Library District, Latin Chamber, Nevadans for Quality Education, Clark County Family Services & Programs, Family Leadership Institute
               and Nevada PTA.
