Mission Statement
The Washoe County School District sets out to create an education system where all students achieve academic success, develop personal and civic responsibility, and achieve career and college readiness for the 21st century.
 
Highlights
North Valleys High School Mission Statement: The North Valleys High School community will graduate productive, competitive, and compassionate citizens who value learning.
  • Alyssa Griener was selected from Nevada to attend the “Ronald Reagan Close-Up Youth Conference” in Washington, DC.
  • The ROTC program received the “Rotary Community Service Award” for their year long community service activities.
  • Twenty-two Science students were invited to be a part of the Nevada College Access Challenge Grant Program at UNR.
  • Lauren Acevedo, Ashley Armao, Cassie Aaronson took 2nd place in the State FCCLA Star Event Culinary Competition.
  • Rachel Barr and Alexandra Ling consistently took top honors at the Speech and Debate Competitions.
  • Claysen Bailey and Sara Griffin received the Most Improved Student Award by Reno South Rotary.
  • Alex Martinez received the All League 4A Offensive Player of the Year in Boys Soccer and the Team were High Desert Champs.
  • David Campos and Jeff Hillin scored in the top 20% in the Nation on the National Financial Capability Challenge.
  • Allan Vazquez received the All Region 4A First Team in Wrestling and represented NVHS at the state competition.
 
Goals and Objectives
Goal 1
Academic Proficiency

Objective(s):
Increase the number of all students proficient in ELA from 91.29% to 97.46% as measured by the 2011 HSPE.
Increase the number of all students proficient in Math from 77.34% to 82.34% as measured by the 2011 HSPE.

Goal 2
Positive Behavioral Support

Objective(s):
School-wide passing rates will increase by 10%.
Referrals to the Student Support Office will decrease by 10%.

Goal 3
Increase Graduation Rate

Objective(s):
Increase the graduation rate from 65% to 70%.
Increase the number of students earning 70% or above in all courses by 10%.
