The Washoe County School District sets out to create an education system where all students achieve academic success, develop personal and civic responsibility, and achieve career and college readiness for the 21st century. |

Galena High School is a true comprehensive high school. We offer many advanced academic courses and a wide variety of elective classes. We also offer many extra and co-curricular activities.- Bryan Jordan and Sarah Lancaster were selected as 2011 NIAA Top 10 student athletes.
- Boy's ski were state champs, Girl's ski were state runner-up and academic champion, and Boy's Cross Country Regional Champion.
- Galena College and Career Center hosted 30 College and University visits, 22 Military Visits, and 10 Career Presentations.
- Student Leadership won the state academic championship. They were also recognized as a National Gold Council of Excellence.
- Mary Stachofsky and Danielle Geerling were National Merit Scholarship Competition Finalist.
- The JROTC program earned its 19th consecutive HonorUnit with Distinction. They are in the top 4% of programs nationwide.
- Choir and Orchestra won gold medals at Heritage Music Festival. Band placed 1st at the Washoe County Concert Band Festival.
- Galena's graduation rate for the class of 2010 was 84%, 14% points better than the previous year.
- Galena's Metals and Auto shops were upgraded with new equipment, including 52'' Sheet Metal Sheers and aStrut Compressor.

Goals and Objectives |
Goal 1 Galena High School will increase the achievement level of the freshman class.
Objective(s): At least 92% of the freshman class will earn 5 or more credits by the end of the 2010-2011 school year.
Goal 2 Galena High School will increase the overall graduation rate.
Objective(s): At least 87% of the Galena High School senior class, who started in the cohort in 2007, will graduate from Galena High.
Goal 3 Galena High School will increase the participation inAdvanced Placement courses and the performance level of students in Advanced Placement courses.
Objective(s): At least 52% of junior students will enroll in one or more AP courses with 63% or more earning a passing score.
