Mission Statement
The Washoe County School District provides each student the opportunity to achieve his or her potential through a superior education in a safe and challenging environment in order to develop responsible and productive citizens for our diverse and rapidly changing community.
 
Highlights
Galena received US News and World Report Silver Ranking for America’s Best High Schools and Siemens Advanced Placement Award.
  • Galena’s Mock Trial team was Northern Nevada Champion and State RunnerUp.  The team had the state’s top lawyer and witness.
  • Galena’s Library/Career Center with parent volunteers organized the Career Fair that had 40 presenters and 900 students.
  • The JROTC Program earned its 17th consecutive Honor Unit with Distinction. They are in the top 4% of programs nationwide.
  • Student Leadership had two members of the State Student Council Board: Max Dugan President and Chris Dugan 4A Vice President.
  • Girls Tennis, Boys Soccer, Girls Cross Country and four wrestlers won 4A regional championships.
  • Girls Cross Country and one wrestler were 4A state champions with Girls Tennis, Boys Ski and Boys Soccer State Runners Up.
  • Galena had one National Merit Finalist, two Semifinalists and one Commended student and was runner up in Academic Olympics.
  • Parents and community members contributed hundreds of hours of volunteer service and thousands of dollars to Galena High.
 
Goals and Objectives
Goal 1
Students will improve their English Language Arts skills as demonstrated on standardized tests.

Objective(s):
The number of students passing the ELA HSPE on the first attempt will increase by 10%.

Goal 2
Students will improve their Math skills as demonstrated on standardized tests.

Objective(s):
The number of students passing the Math HSPE on the first attempt will increase by 10%.

Goal 3
All students will earn sufficient credits to graduate on time.

Objective(s):
The number of credit deficient freshmen will decrease by 10%.
