The Washoe County School District sets out to create an education system where all students achieve academic success, develop personal and civic responsibility, and achieve career and college readiness for the 21st century. |

The "Quest for Excellence" drives our efforts as we develop the new School Improvement Plan. Our goal for the next 5 years includes emphasis on curriculum and increased graduation rate.- McQueen AP students took 861 exams in 20 subject areas.
- National Board Certification was earned by Spanish teacher Kristi Harris bringing our total number of NBC teachers to 18.
- The first "Signature Program" with an emphasis on Global Studies will be available during the 2011-2012 school year.
- World Language teacher Christopher Case was awarded the St.Mary's Excellence in Education Award by the WCSD Board of Trustees.
- Yearbook won the 2010 Gallery of Excellence, and teacher/advisor Johanna Sergott was awarded the 2010 Yearbook Service Award.
- Marching Band won the 2011 State Marching Championship and 1st in their division in the Fiesta Bowl Parade.
- Excalibur Newspaper won the Nat'l. Scholastic Press Assoc. Honor Rating of First Class with two Marks of Distinction by NSPA.
- Athletic State Qualifies-Football, Boys Tennis, Boys/Girls Golf, Boys/Girls Track, Wrestling, Boys/Girls Ski, Girls XCountry.
- The Fine Arts Department combined efforts to perform the musical Guys and Dolls.

Goals and Objectives |
Goal 1 To increase the graduation rate for all students with an emphasis on IEP and Hispanic disaggregated groups.
Objective(s): To increase the overall graduation rate by 5% with an emphasis on the Nevada HSPE pass rate.
Goal 2 To increase the participation and performance for students in the Advanced Placement program.
Objective(s): To increase student participation by 3%. Participation by disaggregated groups will match school demographics. Increase student's receiving a score of 3 or higher by 5%.
Goal 3 Develop sophomore and junior level academic support for students that participated in the Freshman Academy.
Objective(s): The Freshman Academy will continue to serve 85 students and provide additional assistance with study skills, remediation and homework. At risk sophomore and junior students will receive core academic support using Lancer Learning Time. The failure rate will be decreased to 5% in core subject areas.
