Mission Statement
The Washoe County School District sets out to create an education system where all students achieve academic success, develop personal and civic responsibility, and achieve career and college readiness for the 21st century.
 
Highlights
Washoe High School entered the 2010-11 academic year with an ambitious plan to improve academic outcomes, attendance rates,and improving the social and cultural climate of its school.
  • Increased participation rates on the HSPE.
  • Developed strategic plan for providing wrap-around service supports for students in need of social-emotional growth.
  • 12th grade students increased HSPE performance from previous year.
  • Expanded Positive Behavior Supports to include a reinforcement system school-wide.
  • Put plan in place to begin a satellite campus at North Valleys High School next year that will serve 80 students.
  • Developed plans to start an evening program to increase credit recovery for students.
  • Developed five re-engagement sites to provide support for vanished students throughout Washoe County.
  • Developed plans to offer vocational courses through arrangements with AACT and TMCC.
  • Expanded opportunities for online learning and credit recovery.
 
Goals and Objectives
Goal 1
Increase daily attendance, proficiency participation, and graduation rates for the total student and sub populations.

Objective(s):
Increase daily attendance by maintaining a 90% ADA in 2010-11 school-year and beyond by implementing an equitable code of conduct to create an environment conducive to teaching and learning.

Goal 2
District monitoring of school improvement efforts to ensure accountability.

Objective(s):
By end of 201-11 school year, monthly and triannual progress reports and a summative year-end report will demonstrate school compliance with restructuring goals, objectives, and action steps that will result in increased school-wide proficiency based AYP data.
