CSMS is the only grade5-8 school in WCSD. Teaming and advisory programs provide students extended learning opportunities and needed support to reach school Pathway Targets.- Students set academic goals from assessment results using a CRT Booklet in advisory. Team teachersprogress monitor students weekly.
- CSMS was recognized by WCSD for exceptional student achievement in notable performance and improvement.
- CSMS is piloting and receiving staff development in co-teaching, andpromoting full inclusion for special program students.
- Departments meet weekly as Professional Learning Communities todevelop and analyze assessment results forimproving instruction.
- Positive Behavior Support has been established for two years using the C.A.T.S. Matrix and Paws For Applause.
- CLS and Mr. Hurley's advisory classentered the NNFB/AIA "Canstruction" competition, earning Best Use of Labels Award.
- Peer Mediation, Student Leadership, PBS, and a variety of support groups continue to expand through advisory and lunch clubs.
- Staff training includes T4S, PBS, SIOP, Diversity Awarenessand Infinite Campus. Stacy Long, teacher, completes the WCSD SLF Program.
- Band, Honor Choir and Strings studentscontinue to earn "excellent" ratings at festivals. Daily Meow news reports are run by students.

Goals and Objectives |
Goal 1 Increase math proficiency to 62%, 12% exceeding (5th), 52%,10% exceeding (8th) and Algebra Hispanic participation to 31%.
Objective(s): Proficiency measured by common assessments, benchmarks, Aimsweb and CRT's. Progress monitoring by team weekly. Participation measured by 8th grade Algebra enrollment patterns divided by count day enrollment. Performance measured by attainment of Pathway Targets.
Goal 2 Increase Reading/Writing proficiency as follows: grade 5 (38% writing, 54% reading), grade 8 (56% writing, 70% reading).
Objective(s): 5th and 8th grade goalswill be measured by attainment of proficiency pathway targets. Performance on CRT and Writing Exams will be measured by subgroups, reflecting increases from last year in grades 5 and 8.
Goal 3 As a Tier 2 PBS school, the focus will be the top 15-20% of students demonstrating disruptive behaviors.
Objective(s): Decrease the number of suspensions by 10%, using Tier 2 interventions (Check In/Check Out) and increasing academic instructional time for all students and teachers.
