Mission Statement
The Washoe County School District provides each student the opportunity to achieve his or her potential through a superior education in a safe and challenging environment in order to develop responsible and productive citizens for our diverse and rapidly changing community.
 
Highlights
Mendive students experienced a great academic 2008 - 2009 school year.  Mendive students had tremendous support from parents, teachers and staff!!
  • Mendive Continues to lead the district as the middle school with an attendance rate of 98.25 percent.
  • The Community Outreach class supported Altera, the March of Dimes, and the Neonatology Department of Renown Medical Center.
  • Fifty students were nominated as Sparks Chamber of Commerce BEST kid program.  Congratulations to our BEST kids!
  • Mendive has "gone green" with paper, plastic and aluminum recycling.  Sparks City Hall also contributes to our recycling.
  • Mendive PTSA sponsored our annual Cheap Night Out spaghetti fundraiser dinner.  It was a great success.
  • Mendive teachers collaborate to meet individual student needs in the RTI process.  Students have experienced great success.
  • Eighth grade students enjoyed a fabulous career fair hosted by Mendive counselors and community members.
  • Mendive added 9 Interactive Whiteboards and 4 LCD projectors to provide the best educational technology tools for learning.
  • Edline technology allowed students and parents access to educational information including grades and assignments.
 
Goals and Objectives
Goal 1
Increase percentage of students who are proficient in reading/writing skills, especially with our LEP and IEP students.

Objective(s):
The total percentage of students who are proficient in English/language arts as measured by state CRTs will increase from 75% to 79% by the end of the 2008-2009 school year.  The IEP populations will increase from 51% to 56% and the LEP population will increase from 57% to 62%.

Goal 2
To increase the percentage of students who are proficient in math, especially our IEP and LEP students.

Objective(s):
The total percentage of students who are proficient in math as measured by the state CRTs will increase from 67% to 71% by the end of the 2008-2009 school year.  The IEP and LEP populations will each increase from 48% to 53%.

Goal 3
Maintain the high level of parent involvement and communication, especially with the use of Edline and Connect Ed.

Objective(s):
Parent communication will increase as measured by satisfaction survey.
