Highlights
Sparks Middle School has had an outstanding year with many new programs and initiatives, including our new uniform policy.
  • Our new uniform policy has helped to dramatically reduce discipline issues and has been overwhelmingly supported by parents.
  • Our Partner in Education, Rail City Casino, sponsored student activities and awards ceremonies.
  • PLATO, ELLIS, and Read 180 have helped many students improve academically and earn credits.
  • The 21st Century Grant has allowed SMS to provide after-school tutoring and enrichment activities.
  • Family Nights have been well attended by parents where they receive information on important issues such as gang awareness.
  • Many students went to UNR and TMCC to Start Thinking About College and many were also honored as Silver Scholars at UNR.
  • The implementation of School Wide Positive Behavior Supports have helped improve student behavior and reduce tardies.
  • Hundreds of students were honored quarterly for earning B’s or better on their report cards by the parent group.
  • Students and parents were honored by the Sparks Chamber of Commerce during our annual B.E.S.T. mixer.
