Student learning comes first at Dilworth Middle School, where academic teams work to provide a rich middle school experience, grounded in relationships with our families and community.- Students started the year reading, writing about, and discussing THE REVEALERS and MANIAC MAGEE, two novels about bullying.
- Teams implemented R.T.I., providing multiple opportunities to learn through data analysis and targeted interventions.
- Sparks Kiwanis gave bikes to students in need, and t-shirts to twenty-five TERRIFIC KIDS, selected by their teachers.
- The Positive Behavior Supports Committee was created to implement procedures to teach and reinforce appropriate behavior.
- Sparks Chamber of Commerce honored fifty students as Sparks BEST Kids.
- A 21st C. grant funded the TEAM UP after school program, with yearlong opportunities for academic and enrichment classes.
- A partnership with Junior Achievement provided community guest instructors, job-shadowing experiences, and Career Day.
- Peer mediators met with students throughout the school year to resolve conflicts.
- WCSD, the City of Sparks, and other local groups partnered with staff, parents, and students to develop Diversity Day.
