The Mariposa Dual Language Academy, a Public Charter School, will promote academic achievement through Two-Way Language Learning and will celebrate the diverse heritage and culture of the community. |

At Mariposa Academy, our mission is to promote a life-long love of learning that is reflected in our students' performances, self esteem, and citizenship.- "Nutrition in the Garden" classes for 4th and 5th graders was a success culminating in a farmers market.
- Students, staff and families raised $250.00 worth of pennies for the Leukemia Foundation.
- University of Nevada Reno and Mariposa Academy joined forces in a school wide aluminum can recycling project.
- To promote literacy, there was a school wide literary character dress-up day.
- 15 students participated in the annual lego and robotics challenge for the first time in the schools history.
- Mariposa has continued to offer two full day kindergarten classes.
- Working in conjunction with UNR, staff have revised curriculum to better align with State Standards.
- Students have continued their participation in after school tutoring programs.
- The students continue to get physical education instruction through staff provided by the Reno Tahoe Olympics.

Goals and Objectives |
Goal 1 Students in grades 3, 4, and 5 will increase achievement in reading as measured by the Nevada CRT.
Objective(s): By June 2011, 3rd grade student proficiency in reading will increase from 30% to 36%. 4th grade student proficiency in reading will increase from 30% to 36%. 5th grade student proficiency in reading will increase from 13% to 19%.
Goal 2 Students in grades 3, 4, and 5 will increase achievement in math as measured by the Nevada CRT.
Objective(s): By June 2011, 3rd grade student proficiency in math will increase from 30% to 36%. 4th grade student proficiency in math will increase from 30% to 36%. 5th grade student proficiency in math will increase from 50% to 54%.
Goal 3 5th grade students will show an increase in writing performance as measured by the Nevada Writing Proficiency Exam.
Objective(s): By June 2011, 5th grade proficiency in writing will increase from 24% to 30%.
