The Washoe County School District provides each student the opportunity to achieve his or her potential through a superior education in a safe and challenging environment in order to develop responsible and productive citizens for our diverse and rapidly changing community.

Highlights
This school year was filled with new experiences and traditional Moss activities.  Students continued to achieve, and our teachers monitored their progress through Professional Learning Communities.
  • Students in our ESL program met and exceeded their Annual Measurable Achievement Objective (AMAO) targets.
  • Our staff continued to implement RTI.  A new “Walk-to-Read” plan was implemented to ensure the fidelity of the program.
  • Moss Staff implemented Positive Behavior Supports.  Our students follow the Marmot Pledge and recite it each morning.
  • Our SB185 tutoring program continued this year for Tier II students who need additional instruction in Reading.
  • Connie Harville, Anne Newlin, Nancy Elcano, and Karen Karst-Hoskins were recognized as dedicated and distinguished educators.
  • Our ESL program was provided with a new supplemental textbook series entitled “Avenues” to focus on students who are ELL.
  • Moss parents and teachers collaborated to create the first annual Moss Fall Carnival.  The carnival was a tremendous success.
  • Student musical performances were done for the Kiwanis Club, Zone Concerts, Reno Gazette Journal, and parents.
  • Anti-bullying presentations were given to each classroom by our counseling staff.
