Mission Statement
The Washoe County School District provides each student the opportunity to achieve his or her potential through a superior education in a safe and challenging environment in order to develop responsible and productive citizens for our diverse and rapidly changing community.
 
Highlights
Lois Allen E.S., a school of excellence, committed to the continued growth and achievement of every child.  Due to the focused work of our PLCs, our students continue to excel.
  • Lois Allen was nominated by WCSD for the Title One Distinguished School Award.
  • Over 100 people attended our Math and Parent Partners (MAPP) family nights.
  • To date our parent volunteers have logged over 3800 hours of volunteer time at the school.
  • 240 adults attended our bring a Special Person to School Day.
  • Ms. Krista Heard, kindergarten teacher, was recognized as KRNV Excellence in Education October recipient.
  • SB185 funds continued our New Horizons Classrooms that provide intense instruction to at-risk first and second graders.
  • Title 1 funds allowed us to continue to provide full-day kindergarten instruction to all enrolled kindergarten students.
  • Reichardt's and Williams’ class took 4th place at the Regional Science Fair with a special award for water conversation
  • Mr. Batavia's class took 4th place at the Regional Science Fair.
 
Goals and Objectives
Goal 1
All students will increase ability in writing, particularly those students who have an IEP or who are LEP.

Objective(s):
Analytical Writing test show students are low in writing proficiency.  By January 2009, the number of 5th grade students proficient in writing will increase to 43.5%.  Mastery will be monitored by school-wide tests, weekly administered teacher-developed tests, and by the Analytical Writing Test.

Goal 2
All students will increase literacy proficiency by the end of the 08-09 school year.

Objective(s):
Current data indicates that students are low in reading proficiency.  By March 2009, the number of students proficient will increase.  Mastery will be monitored by MAP, district interim assessments, SFA Assessments, and by State CRT performance.

Goal 3
All students will increase math proficiency by the end of the 08-09 school year.

Current data indicates that not all students are proficient in math.  By March 2009, the number of students proficient will increase.  Mastery will be monitored by MAP, district interim assessments, curriculum assessments, and by State CRT performance.
