Mission Statement
The Washoe County School District sets out to create an education system where all students achieve academic success, develop personal and civic responsibility, and achieve career and college readiness for the 21st century.
 
Highlights
Caughlin Ranch E.S. is a High Achieving school due to having met our AYP this year. This is a result of the collaboration between teachers as well the support of the families and community.
  • 80% of our 5th graders met or exceeded the writing standard on the CRTs.
  • Our school has an involved PTA with a large membership this year that gives a variety of supports to the school.
  • All fifth grade students participate in the "We The People" program.
  • Our honor choir is made up of 100 4th, 5th and 6th graders. They compete in music festivals and perform for the community.
  • Students have opportunities to participate in instrument lessons and after school drawing, chess, drama and language classes.
  • We won the elementary award in the WCSD Cesar Chavez Service Learning Project contest for the 2nd year in a row.
  • Our school participates in the "Safe Routes to Schools" Walk to School Day and walking school bus program.
  • The Response to Intervention process is used at all grade levels.
  • We have installed 18 interactive electronic whiteboards into our classrooms this year, thanks to the our PTA support.
 
Goals and Objectives
Goal 1
To increase the number of students at each grade level who are approaching standard level in reading on the state CRT's.

Objective(s):
The percentage of students who are at/above standard on the Reading CRT test, will increase at each level by ten percent from the grade students were in for 09-10.

Goal 2
To increase the number of students at each grade level who are approaching standard level in math on the state CRT's.

Objective(s):
The percentage of students who are at/above standard on the Math CRT test, will increase at each level by ten percent from the grade students were in for 09-10.

Goal 3
To implement the Response to Intervention (RTI) procedures to increase student achievement on the CRTs.

Objective(s):
100% our general education classrooms will be implementing the Response to Intervention process of collecting and analyzing data to show that academic interventions are working effectively for those students in need of academic support and/or academic enrichment.
