Alice Smith Elementary continues to focus on student learning and student achievement. The staff and parents work tirelessly within a school community in which life-long learning is valued.- Alice Smith has scheduled and implemented monthly PLC meetings starting in November 2010.
- Our cafeteria was painted and new, healthier menu choices were added.
- A team of teachers, implementation specialists and administrators conducted a writing camp for 5th grade.
- A bilingual Parent Involvement Facilitator was hired to improve communications with Spanish speaking families.
- Alice Smith received tutoring grants from the Ed Alliance as well as the VanSickle Foundation.
- Three all day kindergarten classes were offered as a benefit of the Edujobs bill.
- The staff received Assistance League grants at all grade levels.
- Alice Smith participated in the district intramural soccer league.
- The parent faculty club organized community events such as: Harvest Festival, Pancakes with Santa, and the Spaghetti Feed.

Goals and Objectives |
Goal 1 Improve student achievement in reading as measured by district pathway performance indicators and Nevada Reading CRT.
Objective(s): At least 59% of 3rd graders, 49% of 5th graders, and all students in all sub-groups will meet the minimum target score. 24% of 3rd graders, and 6% of 5th graders will exceed the target score as measured by the NV Reading CRT. District and classroom based common assessments will monitor progress.
Goal 2 Improve student achievement in math as measured by the district pathway performance indicators and Nevada Math CRT.
Objective(s): 67% of 3rd graders, 54% of 5th graders, and all students in all sub-groups will meet the minimum target score: 29% of 3rd graders, and 14% of 5th graders will exceed the target score as measured by the Nevada Math CRT. District and classroom based assessments will monitor progress.
Goal 3 Improve student achievement in writing as measured by the district pathway indicator and the state writing assessment.
Objective(s): 31% of 5th graders will meet and 8% of 5th graders will exceed the target score as measured by the Nevada State Writing Assessment. Classroom based screening and diagnosis measures will be used to monitor progress.
