Alice Smith Elementary is filled with great staff, great students and fabulous learning opportunities. The staff has completed its fifth year of Reading First implementation.- Teachers participated in professional development opportunities focused on writing traits, literacy and student engagement.
- All students were benchmarked three times during the year to determine educational needs and placements.
- We continued Intervention Assistance Team meetings weekly as part of the Response to Intervention process.
- We instituted monthly Advisory and Literacy committee meetings.
- We had approximately 70 students participate in the school science fair.
- Teachers meet twice a month in Professional Learning Communities to discuss student progress towards academic goals.
- Many intermediate students participated in our recess intramural program. These activities included basketball and soccer.
- Twelve activboards, Elmo document camera's, projectors and laptops were installed in many classrooms.
- Alice Smith made Annual Measurable Achievement Expectations (AMAO) for our ESL students.

Goals and Objectives |
Goal 1 Increase the number of students in every group who are meeting or exceeding proficiency in English/Language Arts.
Objective(s): The number of students identified as exceeding or meeting standard in the content area of English/Language Arts will increase by 15% as measured by the state CRT's.
Goal 2 Increase the number of students in every group who are meeting or exceeding proficiency in math.
Objective(s): The number of students identified as exceeding or meeting standard in the content area of math will increase by 15% as measured by the state CRT's.
Goal 3 Increase the number of proficient students who meet or exceed standard on the state Analytic Trait Writing Assessment.
Objective(s): The percentage of students in the fifth grade who meet or exceed standard will increase by 30% as measured by scores on the state Analytic Trait Writing Assessment.
