Dodson Elementary School has had a productive and fun-filled year.- Reading First and SB 185 grants continued to provide funds for literacy coaches and interventionists for all grade levels.
- Teachers received training in literacy instruction from national level trainers with in class support provided by coaches.
- Full-day kindergarten was provided for all kindergartners.
- Students who meet honor roll requirements and who show exceptional character were rewarded at quarterly assemblies.
- The students in grades 4-6 participated in the drama club and presented Peter Pan.
- Our Dodson ES science fair was a success and produced a regional award winner.
- Students and teachers participated in the Run for Education, earning money for P.E. supplies.
- After school tutoring was provided for students who struggled with learning reading skills.
- Dodson was awarded the Targeted Assistance Grant to provide many reading programs including a free summer tutoring program.

Goals and Objectives |
Goal 1 Increase the number of students who are proficient in Language Arts so that no subgroup has fewer than 52% proficient.
Objective(s): The percentages of low SES students and of IEP students who do not meet standards will decrease by 20% on state CRTs.
Goal 2 Increase the percentage of students who are proficient in Math so that no subgroup has fewer than 55% proficient.
Objective(s): The percentage of low SES students and of IEP students who do not meet standards will decrease by 20% on state CRTs.
Goal 3 Student performance on writing assessments will improve in conventions, voice, ideas/content, and organization.
Objective(s): Students in grade levels 1 through 6 will show improvement in all four writing traits as shown by writing benchmark assessments administered by the school three times per year. 70% of students will score a 3 or better in all traits.
