Mission Statement
The Washoe County School District sets out to create an education system where all students achieve academic success, develop personal and civic responsibility, and achieve career and college readiness for the 21st century.
 
Highlights
The Lenz community strives for academic and social excellence through collaboration and a shared vision of student success. Achieving our goals at rigorous levels is a combined home/school effort.
  • Based on CRT results, Lenz Elementary met AYP and earned high achieving status.
  • RTI continues to be implemented by staff using scientifically based interventions that assist students academically.
  • Weekly IAT meetings are conducted to discuss system level needs and student progress in math, reading, and writing.
  • We are fortunate to have a part time intervention teacher this year to assist students in small group intensive instruction.
  • In PLC's, staff review assessment data and implement enrichment/intervention strategies to maximize student achievement.
  • The Lenz Choir is a group of 4th, 5th, and 6th graders who perform in music festivals and throughout the community.
  • Through Safe Routes and Safe Kids, our school participated in the National Walk to School Day.
  • Lenz students participated in the annual Run for Education and earned $2,000 for our physical education program.
  • Our school has an involved and dedicated PTA. They provide a variety of support to our families and school.
 
Goals and Objectives
Goal 1
At Lenz ES, our primary goal in literacy is to ensure that all students perform at or above grade level.

Objective(s):
It is our objective that more than 93% of our third grade students, 98% fourth grade, 91% fifth grade, and 93% sixth grade will perform proficiently or above on state CRT assessments in English Language Arts.

Goal 2
At Lenz ES, our primary goal in mathematics is to ensure that all students perform at or above grade level.

Objective(s):
It is our objective that more than 94% of our third grade students, 98% fourth grade, 98% fifth grade, and 97% sixth grade will perform proficiently or above on state CRT assessments in mathematics.

Goal 3
At Lenz ES, our primary goal in writing is to increase student proficiency by 10% on the Analytic Trait Writing Exam.

Objective(s):
It is our objective to increase the number of students scoring 12 or higher on the 5th Grade Analytic Trait Writing Exam to 87% by increasing the quantity and quality of our writing instruction.
